Calming guest bedroom design

The brief

Update a bedroom interior design to create a modern, comfortable, calm double guest room.

The solution

This was the smallest bedroom in the home, so it was important not to crowd it. The room was carefully planned to ensure an open area as you enter, giving a sense of space.

The room was opened up further with the removal of old built-in cupboards that were poorly positioned. This small improvement made a big difference in both physical and perceived space.

A calming colour scheme was chosen, with pistachio green walls, and rich forest green and dusky pink soft furnishings. Grey is used to continue the soft colour palette on the wardrobe, blind and bedding. Black metal accessories tie the room back to the original Victorian fireplace.

Contemporary furniture and lighting were chosen to complete the room, with a sleek grey wardrobe, upholstered bed frame, ‘Grasshoppa’ style lamp, flute style side table and velvet armchair.
