Modernised dining area

The brief

Oak bifold doors and an oak table and chairs left the room feeling dated and in need of a refresh. A modern, contemporary interior design was required with more minimal materials and finishes to bring the dining room and social area up-to-date.

The solution

New up-to-date aluminium bi-fold doors were specified and installed, along with new exterior downlights, finished off with a fresh coat of crisp off-white to the exterior of the extension.

A blue and grey colour scheme was chosen for the interior, to help tone down the cream/stone colour of the kitchen cabinets and bring the space up-to-date.

As the kitchen was partly oak and partly painted cabinets it was important to retain some timber to create a cohesive look. A ceramic-topped table features smooth, rounded edges and subtly tapered legs, giving it a distinctly modern and Scandi-inspired look. Timeless polypropylene chairs were chosen in three colours, white, grey and blue to add interest and colour to the space. Blue glass lighting and other blue accessories finish the simple scheme.

Finally, bright prints of New York were added to inject extra colour into the room.
